This guided Mystic Falls hike begins at Old Faithful. You will make your way along a paved path towards Morning Glory Pool, passing several major geysers on the way. We will pick up the Artemisia Trail at Morning Glory. We offer a separate guided hike of the Artemisia Trail.
At the end of the Artemisia Trail hike, there are two ways to access the Mystic Falls trail, and our guide will lead you in the one way, and out the other. We can either start the hike by going through Biscuit Basin, or by immediately getting into Yellowstone’s wilderness, and across meadows and over a stream.
Your guide will lead you to Mystic Falls the one way, and back the other way. The beauty of going through Biscuit Basin is that it gives people who don’t have very much time in Yellowstone the opportunity of a guided tour through a geyser basin with stunning hot springs.
The trail passes through a forest before following the Little Firehole River to Mystic Falls, where you will have time to stroll around and explore. We will then retrace our steps, and make our way out of this section of the trail through Biscuit Basin itself, before picking up the Daisy Geyser Trail to Old Faithful, where the hike ends. The Daisy Geyser Trail is available as a separate hike on its own.
The hike is about 7.5 miles (12.1 kilometres), and is
predominantly flat.
If you’d like to see Mystic Falls, but take a trail that is not quite as long, we also offer this guided Mystic Falls hike from the Grand Loop Road. In addition, we have two other hikes which include Mystic Falls, but they also go to an overlook of Biscuit Basin. The one Mystic Falls and Biscuit Basin overlook hike starts at Old Faithful, and the other hike to Mystic Falls and the Biscuit Basin overlook starts at the Grand Loop Road, and is shorter.
Please check out the videos we have of the Mystic Falls hike from the Grand Loop Road.
