Three Day Yellowstone Tour From Seattle

Giving you a guided in-park Yellowstone experience on all three days, with Grand Teton National Park on your way back, this is an awesome Yellowstone tour!

You have an early start on the first day, as you need to catch a flight from the Seattle airport, where the tour starts, to Salt Lake. Soon after landing, you’ll be traveling by road to West Yellowstone, which is the main entrance to Yellowstone National Park. You will be traveling to Rexburg on a shuttle, which makes several stops along the way, where one of our guides will meet you.  After you get to Yellowstone, you will spend roughly five hours on a guided tour of the most famous geysers and hot springs on Yellowstone’s lower loop, as well as keeping an eye out for some of the park’s iconic animals – bison, elk, osprey, bears and more. The tour covers the Lower, Midway and Upper Geyser Basins including Old Faithful, as well as some of the less well known geyser basins. You can enjoy your sack lunch while watching Old Faithful erupt, explore the historic Old Faithful Inn and wander the boardwalks of the various basins, checking out all four kinds of thermal features present in the park. That evening we will take you to your lodging at West Yellowstone Lodge, where you will be staying the night. After check-in, you are free to take advantage of all the stores, the IMAX theater, and the Grizzly And Wolf Discovery Center where you are guaranteed to see grizzly bears, wolves and otters!

On the second day you will get to experience the full Yellowstone upper loop tour, which includes a guide offering insights on the geology, latest park updates and ecological studies. You will experience waterfalls, walks around geothermal features, take in the historic park headquarters, and wildlife viewing in the Lamar Valley – often called “America’s Serengeti” – due to the abundance of wildlife such as bison, pronghorns, elk, and depending on the season and time of day, bears or even wolves. A sack lunch is provided today.  Please view the entire upper loop itinerary.

On day three, your guide will pick you up pretty early at your motel. You will see some more of Yellowstone’s lower loop, before making for Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole. Starting along the path you took on the first afternoon, you will enter the park and pass the geyser basins, and after crossing the Continental Divide twice, you will stop to walk the boardwalk at West Thumb along the largest alpine lake in North America – Yellowstone Lake. You will then move on through the majestic Grand Teton National Park, enjoying amazing views of the Teton mountain range, pristine lakes, and with luck, even a moose or bear! There will be a short stop in the cowboy town of Jackson, Wyoming, before you make your way through scenic rural Idaho to Rexburg, where you will take the shuttle back to Salt Lake City, where your tour ends. A sack lunch is once again provided today.

The tour ends either at the Salt Lake City airport, or downtown Salt Lake, opposite Temple Square. If you prefer, we can get you a flight back to Seattle, at an additional charge.

This tour starts at the Seattle airport. When you get to Salt Lake, if there are six or fewer people on the tour, a shuttle may transport you between Salt Lake and east Idaho, where one of our guides will pick you up and take you to Yellowstone. If this happens, the end location will be the Salt Lake City airport and a central Salt Lake downtown location. If there are more than six people, a dedicated guide and vehicle will transport you all the way.  We can assist you with getting a flight back to Seattle, if you prefer, at an additional cost.

This is a small group tour, with the possible exception of the shuttle between Salt Lake and east Idaho, where a bus may be used. The shuttle may make several stops on the way to east Idaho.

Parts of this tour may be provided by other vendors we use.

Times are approximate. The itinerary may change without notice, and we cannot be responsible for the consequences of delays.  At the beginning and end, of the season, road closures and weather conditions may prevent this tour being run as detailed. In particular, the road from Old Faithful to Grand Teton generally opens in mid-May. General road maintenance in the park may affect the way this tour operates.

Two nights’ lodging are included at West Yellowstone Lodge, or similar, in West Yellowstone.

This tour has a two person minimum for most of the season, and four people in the quiet times.
