The five day Yellowstone and Grand Teton tour is the same as the four day Yellowstone tour, with an additional day added on to tour Grand Teton and visit Jackson Hole. Your tour starts at either a central downtown Salt Lake location, or at the Salt Lake airport, from where will travel by shuttle, making several stops along the way, to West Yellowstone. Please remember that the driver is not a guide and this is an unescorted leg of your tour. You will be dropped off at West Yellowstone Lodge to check-in and then are free to wander West Yellowstone taking advantage of all the stores, the IMAX theater, and the Grizzly And Wolf Discovery Center where you are guaranteed to see grizzly bears, wolves and otters!
On day two you get to experience the full Yellowstone upper loop tour, which includes a guide offering insights on the geology, latest park updates and ecological studies. You will experience waterfalls, walks around geothermal features, taking in the historic park headquarters, and wildlife viewing in the Lamar Valley – often called “America’s Serengeti” due to the abundance of wildlife such as bison, pronghorns, elk, and depending on the season and time of day, bears or even wolves. A sack lunch is provided today. Please view the entire upper loop itinerary.
On day three you’ll do the lower loop tour, offering guided investigation of the most geothermal areas of Yellowstone, while still providing great wildlife viewing opportunities along the rivers and in Hayden Valley. You will take the time to watch Old Faithful erupt, explore the historic Old Faithful Inn and wander the boardwalks of the Lower, Midway and Upper Geyser basins checking out all four kinds of thermal features present in the park. You will then go to West Thumb on Yellowstone Lake, up through Hayden Valley and on to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone where you will stop at both the Upper and Lower Yellowstone Falls before returning to West Yellowstone. A sack lunch is once again provided today. Please view the entire lower loop itinerary.
Day four sees you going on a full day Grand Teton and Jackson Hole tour. Starting along the same route you took on day three, you’ll pass the geyser basins and cross over the continental divide a few times, before turning right at Yellowstone Lake and out Yellowstone’s south exit. You will then take the short Rockefeller Parkway to the north entrance of Grand Teton National Park. In the Grand Tetons you will have many photo opportunities of the amazing mountain views and lakes, and your guide try and help you to spot animals like the moose, pronghorns and bears that call this park home. You will also enjoy a brief stop in Jackson, Wyoming – known for its quaint, western vibe – before returning to West Yellowstone. A sack lunch is provided today.
On the fifth day you’ll return to Salt Lake on the shuttle, which will make several stops along the way. This is once again an unescorted part of the tour, in that you have a driver with you, but not a tour guide.
